Diggle 2004

Following in the footsteps of a certain Mr Rooney earlier in the week, Damian made it a hatrick of wins in the final Fell race of this years championship. He had already sealed victory in the Male Fell section last week at Stannage, but went onto score a maximum of a 150 points from his best 3, of 4 fell races. First lady home was Nicky who made it 4 wins out of 4 in the Lady's Fell section.

Before the race we were warned that Grouse shooting was taking place on the moor, and not to hang about when we heard the shots and to keep arm movement down to a minimum. We were also told the course was well marked with at least 18 flags round the golf course, all very comforting before the start.

This year we ran the course in reverse, which judging by the recorded times was a tougher option. There were 23 runners from Penistone from a total of 115 finishers. A number of our runners won individual prizes including Steve Storey, Nicky Spinks and NPNG Kelvin, can't wait to see Kelvin doing the hills in his prize. The hospitality was up to the usual standard at Diggle with a Tea and a wide selection of home made cakes to replenish the carbs after the race. Thanks to all those who took part.
