Underbank Events Day

Underbank Events Day: 16th Sept 2006.

The juniors enjoyed their own race from the old Manchester Road,along the dam wall and back to the activity Centre.

12 Senior teams took part in an orienteering event, which consisted of 17 points, set out to the south of the activity centre with the high scoring points to be found around the trig point at Bolsterstone and Barnside Moor going towards Pike Lowe

The winning team was Steve Roebuck and Shaun Dimelow who bagged all 17 points in a time of 1:32.

Three other teams managed to score maximum points including Sarah & Stan Halstead who completed in 1:56 and won prizes for the first mixed team.

The events were followed by canoeing on Unberbank Res and climbing on the wall, and for a few brave souls the 'Leap of faith', jumping off the top of a telegraph pole onto a trapeze bar suspended high up in the trees.

Thanks to Barnsley Harriers and their families whose company made for a pleasurable afternoon and early evening BBQ.
