Hunshelf 2003

Hunshelf Amble 21st June 2003. Weather, very hot.

Michael Boulstrade of Birchfield Harriers in the Midlands smashed the Hunshelf course record by over 10 mins in the sweltering heat on Saturday in a time of 42.00 minutes. At first the officials thought Michael had taken a short cut, but marshalls confirmed he did run the full course, well done Michael! To run roughly 5 min miles on that course is remarkable and a record I am sure will stand for a number of years, unless that is, he returns to defend his title. Second was last years winner Andrew Carruthers in 54.35. third was Ian Rowbotham in 55.24.

First Penistone runner home was that man Steve Storey, in a time of 56.35 finishing 5th overall. Pete Stanley gained 3 points on Stewart when finishing second PFRAC runner in a time of 58.09. Stewart Woodhead remains top of the Championship after his 5th position but now only leads by 4 points. First Penistone lady, and first lady overall was Nicky Spinks in a time of 68.25. Second lady was Sue Higham in a time 76.15 running the legs off her arch rival Paul Parkin by almost 5 minutes. Well done to Esther Mutch who completed her first Championship race.
